Terms of service
These terms cover reading NERDSNIPES, keeping an account, paying for a membership and talking to the characters.

1. About these terms
NERDSNIPES is run by DW Labs, in London, England. Reading the site or making an account means these terms apply to you, so read them before you pay for anything. If you have a question about the service or about anything here, email us at hi@nerdsnipes.com.
2. Who may use NERDSNIPES
You need to be 13 or older. If you are under 18, go through these terms with a parent or guardian and have them agree to them with you before you make an account or buy a membership. Only use NERDSNIPES where local law allows it.
3. Accounts
Your account is only as secure as the email address behind it, so look after both and tell us quickly if you think someone else has got in. You cannot sell your account or hand it to anyone else.
You can ask us to delete your account in your account settings. Your readings and conversations are hidden straight away and permanently deleted after 30 days, which our privacy notice explains in more detail. Deleting an account does not cancel a Stripe subscription, so cancel the membership in the billing portal first.
4. Membership and billing
Free explorations and offline downloads cost nothing with an account. A membership today gets you live AI conversations and saved questions, within whatever the checkout lists and within reasonable usage limits. It renews on its own at the price and interval shown at checkout until you cancel. Stripe takes the payment and runs the billing portal, and checkout shows the tax and the total you pay.
Cancel whenever you like: open the Stripe billing portal from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal rather than cutting you off, and the portal tells you the date your current access ends. If a payment fails, or Stripe pauses the membership, paid features may pause until the payment or the membership is back in order. Your readings are still there once a membership ends; the paid features are not.
Write to us if a charge looks wrong, if you want a refund, or if you want to use a cooling-off period or another cancellation right the law gives you. What we can refund or credit depends on the situation and on those rights. Nothing here takes away a right you cannot lawfully give up.
5. AI-generated material
The characters in the margins are AI simulations of a perspective, labelled as such, and not the people they are named after. Everything they write is generated, so nothing they say is a quotation, an endorsement, or what a real person believes. Like any AI, they can be incomplete, inaccurate, misleading or offensive. Conversations can also be unavailable or cut short by usage allowances, safety controls or a provider going down.
NERDSNIPES is for reading and exploring; treat what is in it as general information. It is not professional medical, legal, financial or investment advice. Check anything that matters against the sources we link, and talk to a qualified person before you make a decision that counts. Keep confidential or sensitive personal information out of a conversation; our privacy notice explains where your questions go.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law, infringe someone else’s rights, or send us unlawful or harmful material;
- try to get around access controls, security measures, usage limits or billing;
- probe, disrupt, overload, scrape or reverse engineer the service, except where the law expressly allows it;
- use automated tools to lift our content, or build a rival dataset or service out of it, without written permission;
- impersonate anyone, or pass off AI-generated material as that person’s real words; or
- use the service to build, spread or enable malware, abuse, fraud or harassment.
7. Content and intellectual property
The writing, design, software and branding here belong to DW Labs or the people we license them from. You are welcome to read it all, and to download it where a feature offers that, for your own non-commercial use. You cannot republish it or turn it into a competing service without our permission. Sources and other people’s material still belong to them.
Anything you write stays yours. You give DW Labs permission to store, copy, send and process it as far as running, securing and supporting the service needs, which includes passing your questions to the AI providers named in our privacy notice.
8. Availability and changes
We update articles, fix or replace features, and change the providers behind the service. We will use reasonable care and skill on the paid parts, but we cannot promise the site is never interrupted, or that an AI reply will be free of errors. We may restrict access for a while where security, maintenance, the law or a breach of these terms reasonably calls for it. If a paid feature changes materially or goes away, we will tell you what that means for your membership and what rights you have.
9. Third-party services and links
Other companies help run the service, and we link out to sources throughout. Their own terms and privacy notices govern what they do. A link is not an endorsement, and DW Labs does not control what sits on the other end of one.
10. Our responsibility
If we break these terms, we are responsible for the losses that were foreseeable when you agreed to them. We are not responsible for business losses, since this is a service offered for personal use, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms will change as the service and the law change. The current version lives here, with the date above. If a change materially affects your membership, we will give account holders reasonable notice and, where the law requires it, explain your options. A change never takes away a right you already have.
12. Governing law
The laws of England and Wales govern these terms, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living somewhere else, local law may also give you the right to bring a claim in your own courts.
